Farewell St. Mary's '11
Lab 6 was our last day at St.Mary's with the children. In a way I'm going to miss it because I really enjoyed doing activities with the children there. It was a challenge sometimes and definetly boosted my confidence to teach in front of others I didn't know. I had alot of good times there seeing the smiles on the children's faces while they did my activities. Its one of the best feelings knowing that children are enjoying life at that moment because of you. This experience definetly lets me know that this is what I want to do with the rest of my life. Helping children work on their skills to improve them and just helping them enjoy life is the best feeling. For the last day at St. Mary's I had the kids play a game of speedball. It was a little different today because instead of being with my group, Mr. Yang let me take the older kids and do my game with them by myself. It felt good to know I had control of the activity completely and even more because the children really enjoyed it. I believe they did because it was more sports related. I'm going to miss going there on Wednesdays!!!

Hop Hop and Away
Today at St. Mary's my group had the gym group. We were assessing Dribbling and kicking today so we had the kids do activities to perform these motor skills. I had the last game which was a soccer game. At first it seemed like it was going to be a challenge because the children were losing interest with some of the activities. In the beginning of my introduction of the game there were only 6 children wanting to try the game. I broke them up into 2 teams of 3 and had a college student on each team. After a couple of minutes the older kids saw the children playing my game were having alot of fun and wanted to join. In the end I believe I had 12 kids playing a big game of soccer. Instead of only playing my game for 15 minutes, they kept playing the game until they had to go get snacks. It was very rewarding to know they loved my activity and weren't just forced to play. It was probably one of the best feeling of accomplishment.Children love just playing sports acitivities so why not let them do what they love!

Dino Rampage
For Lab 4 we incorporated a dino theme to our activities. My team and I were with the cafeteria group. Then turned out to be a bigger challenge then we thought. There turned out to be alot of children this day. It was a frustrating but good experience. We never know how many students we will be with so now we are more prepared for them next time. One postive that came out of this was noone gave up on their activity. 1-0 for the 201 class!!!!

Cowboy Roundup
For Lab 3 our theme was Western so most of the SUNY Cortland Students dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls. It was alot of fun to work with the kids this week because they really loved the outfits. I worked with the Pre K again which I enjoyed. I made up a game called River Crossing which the kids seemed to really enjoyed it, especially at the end of the activity due to the fact I had them MOOO!!! like a cow when they got to the other side of the river. After my activity I got one of the Pre K kids who seemed not to want to participate in any games for the day to do an activity with me which he wanted to do. The activity was just to swing a jump rope, which to us might seem simple and not intertaining at all but to the Pre K kids to be the most fun one could have. It is remarkable to watch a kid to enjoy the simple things in life.
